VMS and Northeast Geotechnical Supply Inc. in Olyphant, PA have teamed up to provide cost effective systems that can be installed on geotechnical drillings rigs allowing them to perform CPT. This will allow the operators of these rigs to offer their clients an alternate soil investigation method, which is increasingly used in North America.
VMS has set up a Seismic CPT discussion group on LinkedIn. This international discussion group on the world's largest professional network clearly reflects VMS's international and geotechnical activities and also supports their strategic partners Geomil and BCE, as these companies design and manufacture equipment for seismic CPT.
Smart Structures Inc. announced that they have selected VMS to manage the User Certification Program for their Embedded Data Collector (EDC ) system. This appointment expands the cooperation between the two companies as VMS had been awarded a contract in June of 2009 to assume editorial responsibility for the user manuals for the EDC system.
Gerald Verbeek, President of VMS, commented that this latest award fits perfectly with VMS's goal to establish a lasting relationship with a client and to become a true partner. Expanding the cooperation between Smart Structures and VMS clearly indicates that this goal was achieved.
Baziw Consulting Engineers, Ltd. (BCE) and Verbeek Management Services (VMS) are pleased to announce that they have entered into a strategic alliance.
BCE (www.bcengineers.com) specializes in seismic systems design, which incorporates seismic sensor instrumentation, signal conditioning, digital signal processing (DSP) and general software engineering. The company provides customized and state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions for a variety of seismic engineering applications in the geotechnical industry (such as the interpretation of seismic CPT data in accordance with ASTM standard D-7400) as well as in the oil & gas industry.
Through this new alliance BCE can focus their attention on product development and training of their clients in the use of that equipment, while VMS provides marketing and sales support, making full use of their extensive contacts, not only in the geotechnical service industry, but also in the oil & gas industry.
Erick Baziw, President of BCE, commented that he is very pleased with this alliance. “While we have developed and continue to develop a number of very sophisticated applied seismology products, our marketing and sales activities were often short changed in our desire to develop leading edge technology. Through this alliance we can be assured that this part of our business will get the attention it deserves”.
Commenting on this news, Gerald Verbeek, President of VMS, mentioned that it is another clear recognition of the services VMS can provide its clients. “This partnership between VMS and BCE is also a perfect fit, since BCE's products target two areas (geotechnical and oil & gas) where we are already very active, and this work will just expand our activities in those areas”.
To recognize those who have contributed their time and expertise to the peer review of 100 or more papers, SPE has created "A Peer Apart". Members who commit to be peer reviewers make substantial contributions to the industry's literature by helping to ensure that the papers published in SPE's technical journals are of the highest quality. This new program recognizes the elite group who have reached the milestone of 100 papers or more. Over time, these individuals have volunteered hundreds of hours to the society, helping to make SPE's peer-reviewed publications a valuable resource for the industry.
The inaugural class of A Peer Apart includes Gerald Verbeek, who together with the others members of this class was recognized during the Technical Editor Awards Receptions at SPE's Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition.
